The Legendary Magic Warriors

I only learned about this months after it had happened. Before we arrived in Japan, the Magic Council had found some of their Legendary Warriors, as they had come to be called. Destiny had put them together, they were friends and classmates. They met Grand Mage Gloria in a park. She looked like an ordinary middle age woman, but she was much more than that. She was old, real old, I guess she was close to 700 years old. Most of the Mage of that time had been trained by her or one of her disciples. It was a surprise to them to meet her, and it was a surprise to her to meet them. The Legendary Magic Warriors were five high school girls. Young, immature, and impulsive. They were all 15 years old. Their names were Andrea, Mai, Kioko, Misa, and Junko. The "girls", as I came to call them, were in denial of their true nature. I wouldn't blame them, some strange woman comes and tells them they were great warriors of ancient times and they have a great destiny ahead of them. A destiny that includes fighting an enemy no one will be able to defeat but them, and other Magic Warriors like themselves. Who, by the way, have not been found yet. It took a lot of convincing, but the girls continue to imply Gloria was just a crazy old lady. Finally, Gloria got mad and broke one of the laws of the Mage. She cast a magic spell, growing the trees in the park to close off the exits. That got their attention. Then, she called upon her familiar, who was a chimera. That convinced them enough to listen. And that's how their training began. Every night after midnight, the girls would go to the park to learn to use magic.

japan

When we were going to enter 10th grade, we decided to go to Japan. We picked Itabashi district in Tokyo, it appeared to have good schools and if we stayed longer than in other countries, it had a great university. By the time our plane arrived at Narita, Ricardo's men had already set up in a building. We had the penthouse, and they had the rest of the floors. They were trying to make us believe they weren't there, but we knew. We had learned their MO from the previous trips. 1. Pick a secure location. 2. Set up a command center to monitor all activity. 3. Become invisible. 4. Protect the "children" at all cost. "Children" I hated that word, I thought we were all grown up because we've had hit puberty. How childish of me. Why was I in such a rush to grow up? I wish I could be there, in that time, when things were much much more simple.

Back then, we had no idea. But when the accident happened, a meeting occurred in the middle of the Sahara desert. The four leaders of an organization older than history met. They came from the four corners of Earth. Some looked pretty normal, while others simply didn't. They were the Magic Council. Their prophecies had announced many things, the end of the world, the rise of a shadow king, and the coming of an enemy older than them and way more powerful. Six days prior to the meeting, 28 seers had seen this enemy coming back to Earth. They decided to perform a forbidden ritual, to awake their ancestors from their graves, because they were thought to be the most powerful mages in their history. Little they knew, the ritual wouldn't bring back the dead, it would simply awaken their spirits in their descendants, a type of reincarnation of sorts. But these Legendary warriors would have no memory of their previous lives, their amazing powers and how to use them. It would take time to find them, train them, and have them ready for a war, which had to be fought in secret. For humans don't know they exist.

I used to want to be a writer, but that was a child's dream. That's right, I was telling you who I was. After mom and dad died, we moved to England to live with uncle Ed. We stayed there till we were 14, then we decided to travel. He send us with a tutor/bodyguard, Ricardo. He also had a group of men that would provide additional protection to us. We've never had that before the "accident", that only made me more suspicious. I didn't mind Ricardo's men, they stayed out of sight, they followed us in two black cars wherever we went. We traveled to France, Spain, US, Mexico and some countries in South America, specially the one where mom was from. When we decided to hit Asia, we didn't know why we felt drawn to Japan first, but I guess it was destiny.

Who am I? I don't really know, but I guess I can start with who I was. I was a teenager, a happy one at least. Things have not been easy since we lost our parents but we were happy. I say our parents because we all lost them, me and my two longest friends, Charles and Joe. Our parents died in a freakish accident when we were 12 years old. The fireman said it was a gas leak, but I was in the house before it happened and I didn't smell any gas. Joe and Charles accept that, but I have my doubts. After that, we went to live with Joe's uncle, he was nice and let us do as we pleased while he managed the fortunes our parents left us. He says we come from "old money", not really sure what that means. I guess it's not really my problem anymore.

The world out there

So what if the world we know is a lie. We have been deceived from the beginning of history. By who? Intelligent beings who have existed before man walked on 2 legs. They have learned to hide their identities, their true nature. They are among us. They see us. But we don't see them.
